Not automatically. Higher-priced tickets often have different prize structures and may show stronger published overall odds, but payout rates and remaining top prizes vary by game. Compare odds, payout rate where available, and prize availability inside each price tier.
Newer games can have more intact prize pools, but a recent launch does not guarantee a higher payout rate or better odds than an older eligible game. Treat “best new” as its own category, not a substitute for payout rate.
Eligible active games need published odds or prize-tier data. A game with a published top-prize count ranks only while at least one top prize remains. When the Ohio Lottery does not publish remaining counts, active games are ranked on those odds. Games with all top prizes claimed stay in the full scratch-off database but are excluded from rankings. No. Scratch-off games are random. Stronger comparative metrics improve how tickets compare to each other on published data; they do not identify winning tickets or guarantee a prize. On average, every game pays back less than it costs.

Games must be active or ending and include enough published odds or prize-tier data to support ranking. A game with a published top-prize count ranks only while at least one top prize remains. When the Ohio Lottery does not publish remaining counts, active games are ranked on those odds. Games with all top prizes claimed stay on the full scratch-off database but are excluded from rankings. Ended and coming-soon games are listing-only as well.
When inputs are available: 35% payout-rate percentile, 25% percentile for odds of winning more than the ticket price, 25% top-prize-availability percentile, 15% published overall-odds percentile. Missing inputs redistribute weight across the metrics Ohio publishes. Large prize means ≥$100,000.

Overall odds show how often any prize appears across the printed ticket pool. A prize equal to the ticket price may count as a win, so the best overall odds do not necessarily mean the best chance of winning more than you paid.
Combines every prize tier worth more than the ticket price. When a lottery doesn't publish tier odds, they are estimated as tickets printed divided by the number of prizes in that tier.
The share of ticket sales a game pays back in prizes: total prize value divided by tickets printed times the ticket price. A 70% payout rate means a $10 ticket returns about $7 in prizes on average, an average loss of $3. When remaining prize counts are fresh, we estimate the payout of the tickets still unsold, assuming tickets sell at the pace prizes are claimed (claims lag sales, so it is an estimate). Prizes count at advertised value, not cash option or after-tax value. When the lottery doesn't publish tickets printed, it is estimated from overall odds times total winning tickets.
We don't show a payout rate when the full prize table isn't published, when the published figures don't add up, or when too few tickets remain to estimate. A payout rate above 100% is never shown. Payout rate describes the average across all tickets; it isn't a prediction for any ticket and isn't a recommendation to buy.
Raw remaining counts and the share of original top prizes still available. That is top-prize availability — not the same as current top-prize odds, which require remaining ticket inventory.
