Buy Ohio lottery tickets online

Yes, but not directly from the Ohio Lottery. Ohio doesn't run an official online sales site, so the only legal way to order Ohio lottery tickets online is through a licensed courier service like a licensed courier service. The courier buys a real retail ticket on your behalf and stores a scan of it in your account.

A lottery courier buys real retail lottery tickets on your behalf. You pick your game and numbers online, the courier purchases a physical ticket from a licensed Ohio retailer, and you receive a scanned copy before the drawing. If you win, small prizes are credited automatically and larger wins involve the original ticket.

Licensed lottery couriers can legally operate in Ohio under the state's current regulatory framework, though the specific licensing model varies by state. Courier services are treated separately from the state lottery itself and work through lottery-authorized retail partnerships. They are permitted to purchase tickets for customers but cannot sell lottery products directly.

No, a courier is not the same as buying directly from the Ohio Lottery. A courier is a third-party service that buys a retail ticket for you; the state lottery itself doesn't sell online in Ohio. You still end up with a real state-issued ticket, but the transaction happens through the courier, not the lottery.

Yes, you must be physically located inside Ohio to use a lottery courier. Couriers use geolocation to verify your location when you place an order. Being a Ohio resident isn't enough on its own — if you're traveling out of state, the courier won't complete the purchase.

Couriers in Ohio typically handle draw games like Powerball, Mega Millions, and state-run draw games. They don't sell scratch-off instant tickets because those require in-person redemption. The exact game list depends on the courier, the state lottery's rules, and which retail partnerships the courier has in place.

Small prizes from courier-purchased tickets are usually credited to your account automatically or paid out by the courier. Larger prizes require the original physical ticket, which the courier either mails to you or helps you claim directly through the Ohio Lottery. Exact thresholds vary by courier and prize size.

Yes, sweepstakes-style sites are available in Ohio and operate legally under separate rules. These aren't lottery tickets — they're promotional gaming sites that offer lottery-like gameplay with virtual currencies. They're a different kind of online play, not an alternative path to a real Ohio lottery ticket.
